Weekend rundown

This is definitely one of my favourite weekends so far this year! Fun, meaningful, steady. Happily spent it with people who matter in my life

18 Feb, Friday :: Dinner + love talk @ Ricke&Gracia’s, then slept at JP&Tracy’s (their houses are only 3 blocks away from each other) so we could all go to the GK Run together the following day.

We were at Ricke&Gracia’s from 8 pm to almost 2 am. One of the reasons why I love having these people in my life is because we never run out of things to talk about! Our discussion on LOVE may have gotten a bit intense, haha. I guess we’re all just extra insightful when it comes to this topic.

19 Feb, Saturday :: EAT.LIVE.LOVE.RUN @ National University of Singapore

I’m so happy about this event because it is the first time that one of my family members joined me in a GK activity! I love my sister. She was actually excited about this more than I was. She woke up and prepared way earlier than I did, haha. One thing I loved about this day is the fact that it’s a Saturday and it’s very, very rare (almost never) for me to start my Saturday as early as 7:30 am! :-p

We all had fun running/walking around the lovely NUS campus. It amazed me once again how a lot of Singaporeans (mostly the NUS students) believe and support the cause of Gawad Kalinga.

After the run, Kat and I had a quick brunch at Jologs, went home to get some rest and do at least one load of laundry – but I ended up sleeping for a couple of hours. Took a quick shower as soon as I woke up, then headed to Lucy’s condo. I was there at 3:30 pm until 11:30 – just eating, sleeping, watching movies. Another tunganga weekend with my GKberks. I love tunganga weekends!

20 Feb, Sunday :: First meeting with my new Unit Household

Before I went to Miles’ place for our first Unit household meeting, I went to mass by myself for the first time. It felt different, but in a good kind of way. I find it more solemn and I felt that I was able to pray more deeply. I bumped into Edgar after the mass. We walked to the bus stop together while catching up on each others’ life happenings.

I love my Unit Household. I actually belong to this group since January 2010 when I became Assistant Household Head to Bell, but I never got to attend any meeting until we had a new Unit Head (I had so much going on last year!).

I just feel very blessed to have found friends in my UHH in just a short span of time. We belong different groups of friends in the community, and I’m glad that we got along with each other pretty quickly. Also, the fact that Miles (our new Unit Head) is one of the nicest people I have met in SFC is a great blessing Had a peaceful time giving thanks and praying together with these ladies. I’m looking forward to get to know my new UHH sisters better in our next meetings.

So that’s basically how my weekend went. I was hardly home, I wasn’t able to sleep in until noon like I usually did, but I’m still very happy because I spent it doing worthwhile things with people who matter in my life. I want to make it up to my mother, though. I’d probably ask her to join me for mass and have lunch or dinner this coming Sunday

A different light

In one of my conversations with my friend Jomai, she said that love is like a magic – you suddenly see somebody in a different light, just like that. You don’t plan it – it just happens.

I think that’s exactly what I’m feeling right now. I’m seeing somebody in a different light. Honestly, I think this has been going on for quite some time already, I just didn’t realize it until… well, recently.

When I started caring for him way too much. When I started thinking of him way too often at very random times in a day. When I started wanting to see him everyday. When I started missing him when I’m not with him. When I started longing to talk/SMS/chat with him – just because.

That’s when I started seeing him in a different light.

A small rant

As much as I love my mother, it just frustrates me how she doesn’t have a sense of urgency when it comes to being on time for an appointment. Or worse, a flight. Case in point: My brothers’ plane is scheduled to leave at 4:25pm. A normal person would follow the norm and be at the airport 2 hours before the flight. Guess what? We left the house at quarter to 3, reached the airport at 3:15. STRESSFUL! It was raining so hard, we were just lucky enough to be able to book a cab immediately. I hate unnecessary stress. But this isn’t the first time, you see. So it was doubly frustrating because this happens practically EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. When will we learn to not take these things lightly? Maybe when one of us actually misses a flight, thus having to book a NEW flight (read: way too expensive ticket). Sigh. That is all.

P.S. I still love my mother very, very much

This is my favourite brand of Milk Tea. It’s a bit more expensive than the more common brand Pokka, but this one tastes waaaay better. I love that I can now buy this from FairPrice – cheaper than at 7-eleven! Had instant noodles, apples and this for dinner tonight.

Impromptu shawarma dinner with my favourite friends. Ok, this wasn’t really impromptu – it was supposed to be just a coffee date with Edgar (which we talked about yesterday), but I invited Don, Lucy and Ricke to join us. It was the first time I saw all of them after our Christmas party last December 10! We had dinner at this Persian stall, we ordered chicken shawarma and beer. Dessert at The Coffee Club with Michelle afterwards. Fun times!
